Bonus Episode #23: Richard Peete - Murdered (1960)

A local basketball star gets stabbed to death in a bar brawl outside of a well known “hole in the wall” tavern. Only 3 people were there...which one did it?

Birth: 1925 - Death: 7/10/1960

Ethnicity: African American - Sex: Male

Height: Unknown - Weight: Unknown

Hair Color: Brown - Eye Color: Unkown

Hometown: Beaver Falls, PA (BeaverCounty)


Crime Scene: The vehicle was located in a field west of State Route 213, which is approximately two miles south of the Bohemia River Bridge, north of Cecilton in Maryland. Although the snow in the field was 16 to 18 inches deep, only one inch was under the car, which indicated it had been left there between 10:15 and 10:45 p.m. the previous night.


Injury Description: Stab wound to the chest.


Suspect Description: It's believed the person(s) responsible could be Melva Jean Peete (his wife), Audrey West (his sister in law), or his friend William Alford. All 3 suspects/witnesses are deceased.


Additional Information: Later in the investigation Police actually found what they believed could have been the knife used that night. But, they reported they had no way to prove who used it.
